چکیده
Several antibiotics, including streptomycin, interfere with neuromuscular transmission.2 Neuromuscular blockade usually develops after introduction of the drug into the peritoneal or pleural cavity during operation or after parenteral administration and leads to respiratory difficulties in the immediate postoperative period. Myopathy, however, has not previously been recorded with antituberculous drugs. This case shows that this complication may occur with rifampicin. Thrombocytopenia, acute haemolytic anaemia, the "flu" syndrome, and acute renal failure have all been associated with rifampicin. These side effects are usually seen with intermittent treatment3 or after early reintroduction of rifampicin after completion of a course.4 Renal failure may occur after a treatment gap of more than two years.5 Rifampicin antibodies are more commonly detected in patients who develop side effects, but titres fall at the end of treatment. The rapid onset of myopathy in our patient when rifampicin was reintroduced, compared with the slow development initially, together with a previous uneventful course of treatment suggest a similar mechanism. The proximal myopathy in this patient was directly related to the rifampicin treatment, and this important adverse effect should therefore be considered in any patient who complains of undue weakness during antituberculous chemotherapy.

The relationship between serum level of 25- hydroxy vitamin D with anthropometric indices and some biochemical parameters in obese women
Background : Some studies have shown that the serum concentration of 25- hydroxy vitamin D which is represent the status of body vitamin D, has a diverse relationship with obesity status, and the risk of obesity decreases in people with high level of 25- hydroxy vitamin D. The aim of this study is to investigate the correlation between the serum level of 25- hydroxy vitamin D and anthropometric...

متن کاملP 91: The Evaluation of Serum Level of 25-Hydroxy Vitamin D in Patients under Sodium Valproate Medication
Epilepsy is one of the common neurologic disorders in children. Drug side-effects are one of the important problems in treating patients with epilepsy. Using the antiepileptic medication may cause different side effects such as disorder in bone and vitamin D metabolism. Sodium valproate is one of the antiepileptic medications used widely. Some of its side effects include digestive disorder, inc...
متن کاملO-25: Relation between Follicular Fluid Levels of 25 Hydroxy Vitamin D and Clinical Pregnancy following Embryo Transfer
Background: Animal and in vitro studies have shown that 25-OH vitamin D plays a significant role in different parts of body. Few data exist about the role of 25- OH vitamin D in reproduction. Insufficient levels during pregnancy are potentially associated with increased risk of preeclampsia, insulin resistance and gestational diabetes mellitus. Recently, few studies have assessed the prognostic...
متن کامل25-hydroxy Vitamin D Serum levels in Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) Children Compared to Controls
Background 25-hydroxy vitamin D [25(OH) VitD] deficiency is a highly prevalent condition, present in approximately 30% to 50% of the general population. A growing body of data suggests that low 25(OH) VitD levels may adversely affect cardiovascular health. The present study aimed to measure the serum levels of 25(OH) Vit D in Congenital heart disease (CHD) children compared to healthy children....
